What Kills Bed Bugs (And Their Eggs) Instantly?

I have been in many homes, hotels, and motels that have had bed bugs in the past. There are several treatment methods that are used to treat for bed bugs.

I do have my own personal opinion on what treatment methods work the very best. There are also major differences in what you will have to pay based on the method you choose or the company that does this service for you provides.

Below I will give you a “free bed bug treatment preparation guide” so look down by bed bug treatments to get my list on how to prepare your home for a bed bug treatment. And no I won’t ask for money or your email address in return, it is truly my gift to you.

So, what kills bed bugs (and their eggs) instantly?  Heat Treatment is the fastest method in which you can eliminate bed bugs. If you can get the entire room up to 122 degrees F (50 degrees C) it will instantly kill all the bed bugs and their eggs within that room.

What Kills Bed Bugs Fast?

Well like I mentioned above the fastest way to eliminate bed bugs is to use heat treatment. When you do a heat treatment you will need to rent or bring in big expensive heaters into your home to get rid of the problem. Heaters are expensive to rent and drive your power bill up.

Chemical treatments do work quickly on existing bed bugs, however, it will not kill the bed bug eggs. Which means every two weeks for 6-8 weeks you will need to continue with the treatment until you have eradicated all the bed bugs.

Chemical treatment until the problem is solved. Doing 3-4 chemical treatments is a lot cheaper and effective than heat treatment in my personal opinion.

Dust Treatment is the most environmentally safe way to treat for bed bugs but takes the longest to work, you still may see bed bugs for up to 90 days after dusting.

What Home Remedy (if any) Will Kill Bed Bugs?

If you have a floor steamer or a wrinkle steamer you can use that on all beds and upholstered furniture in your home, this will eliminate all the bed bugs that are living in those places but will not get rid of the eggs.

Strong Hepa Vacuum, you can suck up all the bed bugs you see and then throw the bag away or empty the hard plastic container outside of your home. Since bed bugs molt frequently, make sure to suck up all the shed layers as well.

Dry all your clothes in a dryer, make sure to bag all the clothes in plastic once you have put them through this type of heat treatment.

Use Silica Dust. Silica will dry out the oily backs of bed bugs and cause them to dehydrate and die. The silica dust I recommend is called CimeXa (check out CimeXa on my recommended products page) You will want a paper mask to use this dust even though silica is not toxic, it can get in the air and make it hard to breathe. When you apply silica dust be sure to turn off all the fans and the a/c unit(s) in your home to ensure it won’t circulate through the air.

Apply CimeXa along all baseboards and fixtures.

Is It Hard To Get Rid Of Bed Bugs Permanently?

It isn’t hard if you follow the right protocols for getting rid of bed bugs. I will say you can get rid of the current infestation without having to worry about them, but if someone brings them in again you will get the same problem again.

Can I Get Rid Of Bed Bugs Myself?

The short answer is yes, I have treated bed bugs for several years now and have put together the protocols that one would need to follow to be within the realm of the law.

Make sure to read this article to the end so that you will know all that is involved to get rid of bed bugs yourself.

What Is The Cheapest Way To Get Rid Of Bed Bugs?

Chemical DIY Treatment is by far the cheapest way to get rid of bed bugs. The nice thing is you are allowed to use commercial chemicals to do this yourself.

Does Bleach Kill Bed Bugs?

Well yes, yes it does, but I’m a little worried about the plan of action here. Do you plan on bleaching your bed all your furniture and your carpet? Don’t do it.

Unless you want to disinfect walls and places that bleach can be used.

How Can I Treat My Home For Bed Bugs Today?

Here Is My Preparation Guide For Bed Bugs FREE for you

Listed Below Is The Entire Process To Get Rid Of Bed Bugs Safely

These are commercial chemicals that I recommend here so be sure to adhere to the cautions and laws on the label.

  1. Wearing gloves, safety glasses, and a paper mask mix 1 oz of Temprid SC (click here to see Temprid on my recommended products page)  into a one-gallon spray can and mix 4 ml of Nygard IGR ( click here to see Nygard on my recommended products page) then fill the rest to the fill line with water.
  2. Spray Mattress seams zippers and ruffles on all beds and upholstered furniture.
  3. Pull the bed out from the wall and spray the chemical along all the baseboards of the room. I would do this in every room in your home.
  4. Take beds apart and clean all the frames thoroughly with a disinfectant.
  5. Inspect the inside of the box springs with a flashlight. by removing the fabric covers. If you find bed bugs in there either treat all the wood areas or throw the box spring away depends on how bad the infestation is.
  6. Remove the drawers from all dressers and nightstands and clean everything with a disinfectant spray.
  7. Clean all the areas that have blood streaks and evidence of bed bugs using disinfectant spray and a cloth and make sure to vacuum everything again thoroughly.

Once all this is done you need to keep your clothes bagged up until the process is complete 6-8 weeks.you will need to do this every 2 weeks because of the lifecycle of a bed bug they will hatch between 12-20 days.

If you do all these things you will be able to get rid of the bed bugs on your own. Keep everything as clean and sanitized as possible and you will have the results you want.

It is important to read the label of all pesticides that you use to do a bed bug service.

Don’t use more chemical than suggested, the bugs won’t be any more dead if you put more chemical in your spray can.

If this isn’t a process you want to tackle on your own I understand that it can be a big undertaking and I do advocate for using a pest control service if it seems too gross or physically exhausting to tackle. But if you want to save a lot of money and you don’t mind taking your time and educating yourself a bit on the correct way to do this you will get the same results that the pros do.

There are certain states that don’t allow you to use these chemicals unless you are a commercial applicator. There are other alternatives you can do to get rid of these pesky creatures. Go To https://domyown.com and they will let you know if they can sell these items to you. If you live in NY or CA I know for a fact that you will need to use a different approach.

Summary

We know now that heat treatment is the quickest option when it comes to killing bed bugs and their eggs. There are several free DIY things you can do that can help reduce populations, however, unless you apply chemical or heat it would almost be impossible to completely get rid of a large bed bug population. I have left you with my pre and post bed bug checklist to get you started but make sure to check out my bed bug recommended products page so that you can read more about the chemicals and how they should be used.
