Can Mosquitoes Transmit Covid19?

A lot of people are asking the question in many forums I am in if Covid19 can be transmitted from person to person by mosquitoes.

Since mosquitoes are very prevalent and people are commonly bitten by them, I can understand why there may be a concern as to what a person could contract from them.

Just so you know I have been a pest control applicator for many years and have used several methods to get rid of mosquitoes. I have also spent countless hours studying the behaviors and areas that mosquitoes live.

So this raises the question: Can mosquitoes transmit Covid19? No, since Covid19 is an airborne disease and mosquitoes only transmit disease through our blood and skin layers I can say that there is no probability that we could get the CoronaVirus from a mosquito.

Please read to the end to see how you can get rid of mosquitoes on your own like the pros.

I will also quote what the World Health Organization and the CDC are saying about Mosquitoes and Covid19.

The CDC Says…

The World Health Organization Said…

Here is a link to the WHO (World Health Organization’s) website and what they are saying about Covid19

I would also say that because of the behavior of mosquitoes and where they live that there is almost no chance of contracting Covid19 through a bite from a Mosquito.

How Is Covid19 Spread?

Currently, experts say that the coronavirus is spread when someone coughs or sneezes and small droplets from them become airborne and someone else ingests it.

What Diseases Do Mosquitoes Spread?

And what are their known side effects?

Zika – rash, fever, joint pain, eye redness.

Dengue- rash, fever, headache, bleeding gums

West Nile – fever, joint pain, diarrhea, vomiting & rash

Malaria – fever, headache, chills & vomiting

Yellow Fever – headache, backache, chills & vomiting

Chikungunya – rash, nausea, headache & fatigue

La Crosse Encephalitis – fever, nausea, headache, nervous system issues

Rift Valley Fever – Eye damage, dizziness, fatigue

Jamestown Canyon Virus – Flu-like symptoms, inflammation of the brain or spinal cord.

Snow Hare Virus – headache, dizziness, vomiting, and rash.

These are the ten most common diseases you could contract if you encountered a mosquito bite

As I mentioned above I am going to tell you how you can use commercial chemicals to treat you home and get rid of mosquitoes.

How Do I Get Rid Of Mosquitoes At Home?

The best way to get rid of mosquitoes is to use a chemical called bifenthrin. The brand I recommend is called Talstar P (see the current price on domyown.com) Talstar P will keep mosquitoes away for up to 30 days and has amazing results. If you find yourself needing a fix this is it.

Make sure to mix Talstar P as directed on the label; it is usually 1 oz per gallon of water dilution rate.

But wait what am I supposed to mix this chemical in.

You need a pesticide spray can: You can go cheap on your can if you are going to be doing this for outside use, however, if you plan to spray the inside for bugs and this is something you want to keep up on your own instead of paying someone you will want a more precise can that can do pin stream and broad applications.

For a less expensive can you can get at the big box stores for less than 20 dollars. Just get a plastic can.

For a more precise indoor/outdoor application I have found a great can that works well for both that isn’t as expensive as the professional B&G (see the current price on domyown.com) that costs somewhere near 300 dollars.

The spray can I recommend that won’t break the bank and that will last for a while is the Chapin Stainless Steel 2 Gallon Sprayer ( see the current price on domyown.com)

Now that we have you outfitted with the right stuff to get rid of mosquitoes this next part will talk about treatment areas and precautions to take.

To get rid of mosquitoes you will want to treat all the trees and branches up to 10’ and shrubs around your home. Other areas to treat are outbuildings, sheds, decks, under decking, pool decking, decaying wood, and woodpiles.

Be sure that you avoid pet bowls, birdbaths, koi ponds, creeks, rivers, pools, and sewers.

You will also want to avoid blossoming foliage, fruit-bearing foliage, and nuts.

If you read the directions of Talstar P you can’t go wrong for wearing the proper attire and being safe.

Talstar P will have a list of areas that you are allowed to use it.

Keep in mind that it is unlawful to use a pesticide in any manner that is not consistent with it’s labeling.

Summary

Though mosquitoes can not transmit Covid19 they do still spread disease and this should not be taken lightly. You can properly get rid of mosquitoes on your own with commercial chemicals. Now that you know what chemical works and where to use it you can be on your way to an enjoyable yard that will stay mosquito-free because of your efforts.

Why Can’t I Get Rid Of Mosquitoes In My Yard?

So why can’t I get rid of mosquitoes in my yard? Mosquitoes are hard to get rid of simply because the common person does not know how to treat for mosquitoes. You need to treat all trees bushes under decks and wood porches, make sure to avoid any foliage with a flower or any kind of blossom we don’t want to kill the honey bees.
